About John McKinlay
Professional landscape and travel photographer, John McKinlay has worked extensively in Scotland, Saharan North Africa, Cyprus, Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy and especially in Portugal where he is now based for about half the year, teaching the techniques of travel photography in Southern Europe. John loves the mood and atmosphere of the Scottish landscape, particularly in the spring and autumn, but he also enjoys the special quality of light and the warmer climate of Portugal.
His fine art landscape photographs have been purchased by customers from all over the world and now his images are available in a wider range of sizes, styles and finishes than ever before. Many of the works in these collections are being published for the first time.
For the past 20 years, John has been sharing his wealth of photographic knowledge and experience, designing and providing photo courses, workshops and tours for many thousands of photographers from all over the world, from complete beginners through to professionals. His courses have won critical review in The Times and the Telegraph on Sunday, where Photograph Scotland was included as one of the top 6 photography course providers in the world.
As a professionally qualified and experienced teacher, his delivery is clear, concise, and frequently flavored with a touch of wry Scottish humour. His passion and enthusiasm for photography is infectious and his refreshing approach to the art of outdoor photography is inspirational.
